If you are in the process of planning a wedding, one of the many decisions you will have to make is on the music for your reception. When you have already settled on the idea of getting a wedding DJ, the only thing left to do is to find the right DJ for your wedding. This, though, can be a challenge if you have never gone through the process before. Get to know some of the ways that you can be sure you are getting the best wedding DJ possible. Then, you can hire a great DJ that will not let you down on your big day.
Do Not Go With the First DJ You Meet
First and foremost, you should not just automatically hire the first DJ you meet because it is more convenient to do so. Just like anything with your wedding, you will want to have a few options to consider before you settle on just one. You will need to take your time.
Talk to at least two or three DJs before you make your final decision on who should get the job for your wedding. If they push you too hard to hire them at that first meeting, they may not be the right choice for you.
Get Testimonials
When you talk to a potential wedding DJ for your big day, ask them for client testimonials. These are satisfied clients that would be willing to provide a brief review for you of the services they received from the DJ.
This could include everything from MC-ing the event to the actual music played and the way the DJ conducted themselves as a whole. Testimonials should be easy to come by for experienced and well-liked wedding DJs, so do not hesitate to ask for them in the interview process.
Use Referrals
You may have been to your fair share of weddings. If you have a loved one or friend who had a fantastic reception, thanks in part to the DJ, ask your friend for the DJ's contact information and add them to your short list for interviews. They may or may not also be the perfect DJ for you, but having highly recommended DJs on your list will not hurt.
Ask What Their Music Library Is Like
If you have a specific type of music you want played at your wedding reception or specific songs you want included (or excluded), you will need to know about your DJ's music library. So, be sure to ask them about it when you interview them.
Some wedding DJs specialize in a few types of music, while others have a more broad library of music. You want to be sure you hire a DJ that can play the music you want for your reception.
Now that you know a few of the ways to go about finding the right wedding DJ for your big day, you can start the interview process right away.
